The client is seeking a Staff Accountant II to join their New Homes Accounting Team! In this highly visible role, you will work directly with the Controller and the rest of the team to innovate and streamline accounting procedures. Responsibilities (daily, weekly and monthly):


General Ledger Accounting and Reporting: This position will also be responsible for certain areas related to monthly financial statement reporting and reviewing/recording settlement transactions. This includes posting journal entries and preparing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations. In addition, the individual will:

·         Perform day-to-day journal entries to record General Ledger and Job Cost activities

·         Produce appropriate financial reports in a timely manner

·         Review house cost for settled houses, and prepare current job cost (CJC) reports

·         Prepare monthly overhead analysis


Cash Management: This position will process cash transactions and track the status/needs of the homebuilding entities cash weekly. The individual will maintain banking relationships with the lenders, analyze loan balances, track amounts available to draw, and submit construction/land draws to the banks. In addition, the individual will:

·         Prepare capital calls and capital distributions

·         Process customer deposits and other miscellaneous deposits

·         Prepare check requests and wire requests, as needed

·         Prepare lot takedown pricing sheets, review HUDs, and prepare journal entries

·         Prepare bank reconciliations

·         Complete cash flows for specific subdivisions

·         Submit compliance certifications and backup to banks



·         Assist with quarterly business plan updates

·         Assist with preparation of audit work papers annually

·         Prepare other excel reports and analysis as needed

·         Act as a backup to Staff Accountant

Required Qualifications :



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • 2-4 years’ experience in a position with comparable job duties or public accounting

  • Experience in the real estate industry preferred

  • Software skills to include advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint, as well as accounting software (experience with MS Dynamics NAV preferred)
