Jr Field Engineer
Our Client a leader in delivering and managing critical components of government communication networks, is seeking applicants to provide technical support and training for our client's Fly-Away Systems to end users. The applicant will be responsible for resolving technical problems in a help desk environment or at customer’s location by using his/her expertise in customer service and technical knowledge gained from prior experience to resolve issues surrounding system configurations, usage, and training. The applicant will also respond to telephone calls, emails and personnel requests for technical support, as well as, provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support to end users. Some on-call support will be required.
In addition to technical support, other responsibilities will include resolving software and/or hardware problems as well as supporting the integration of the customer’s existing operation systems and applications. Applicant will also respond to and diagnosing problems through discussion with users while tracking and updating equipment issues in the ticketing system. Applicant must ensure a timely process through which problems are recognized, solutions are researched and implemented and the issues are resolved. Applicant must be able to speak in front of the customers senior staff in order to provide them with technical briefings on the network and deployable client's systems. Candidate must be able to travel to both CONUS and OCONUS customer locations and provide equipment support with little to no supervision. This may include travelling to areas declared by the Department of Defence as Hazardous Duty Environments.
Required Skills (Basic Qualifications):
Candidate must have understanding of government networks to include NIPRNET, SIPRNET, CENTRIX, JWICS and GIG connections. Must have the experience when working with Cisco routers, firewalls and Information Assurance (IA) regulations to troubleshoot problems. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and be familiar with anti-virus programs, video teleconferencing and secure voice platforms. Must have experience with Type 1 HAIPE devices (KG’s), Data Transfer Devices (DTD) and COMSEC procedures. Must understand and be able to speak about subnetting and routing protocols and concepts such as VLAN’s, OSPF, BGP, IPSEC VPN, and GRE. Basic understanding of satellite technologies such as BGAN, X-band, Ku-band, Ka-band, and C-band. Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Adobe Professional Writer.
*Military background a plus (E4-E6 range). *Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and flexibility with this position. Must be able to interact with network services engineers, software systems engineers, and/or applications development teams to restore service and/or identify and correct core problem. Experience in network design, Voice over IP (VoIP), Cisco Call Manager (CUCM and/or CME), cellular technologies (3G/4G) and VMware/ ESXi is preferred along with an active CCNA, A+ and Security + certifications.
Candidates MUST be a citizen of the United States of America, have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government clearance of no less than SECRET and possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Candidate MUST also be able to pass a drug screening and physical exam.
